// UX & Game Design for Web Applications
I'm Jackie andAtomic is totally my thing.
I'm a passionate gamer with a dream of developing games myself. That's why I studied Game Development. Today I work as a UX & Game Designer. In game design, I focus on genuine intrinsic motivation, because lasting motivation comes from curiosity, autonomy and challenge — not from artificial rewards and time pressure.
My approach is built on Atomic Design
Imagine your product staying scalable for years. Every insight from user research and data analysis can be implemented right away, without tearing up the whole foundation. Sounds utopian? Not if you work atomically.
Tools & providers I work with
These are the tools and providers I rely on in my daily work.
Portfolio
I build web applications and websites following Atomic Design, on top of React and with support from Claude — including my own backend API integrations, like the name registry. I use PostHog to continuously analyze and optimize my tools. The live count below gives you a sense of the usage rate of my applications.
Horse Name Database
A self-built tool for finding, filtering, and submitting horse names, originally born out of my own search for a name and fully migrated to React and SQLite in 2026.
About Me
I have many different interests, but horses are what I love most — whether I'm at the stable or pursuing that passion in a creative way. Without my interest in horses, I'd almost certainly have learned a completely different profession. That's also how I ended up doing my second degree.
Ever since I got to know and understand design principles through that degree, I love analyzing and questioning processes or design decisions to understand why people end up frustrated, confused or overwhelmed at certain points (admittedly, that can be a bit tricky for friends and family sometimes).
My Career
Responsible for minute-taking and documentation of board meetings and general assemblies.
Applying user research methods such as contextual observation of call center agents, as well as conducting interviews and usability testing. Creating IA and user-flow diagrams, (synthetic) personas, high-fidelity mockups, and rapid prototyping with Figma Make, Loveable and Claude. Maintaining the design system and documenting design processes. Advising marketing on applying design principles.
UX design, web development, photography, illustration (specializing in anatomically realistic illustrations of horses and riding equipment).
Co-developing web-based software for energy suppliers and call center agents, based on Vue.js, Node.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. Conceiving and developing WordPress websites. Establishing a corporate design and employer branding (including employer branding photography).
Co-developing a CMS system based on Atomic Design principles, built with PHP and jQuery. Further CMS experience with Kirby and WordPress. Shell scripting to streamline the use of GitHub.

My Volunteer Work at German UPA
Alongside my work, I volunteer as a board apprentice for the secretary role at German UPA, the professional association for User Experience Professionals in Germany. There, I advocate for professional exchange and the visibility of UX work.
